Why spend $1000. more for a good macro lens?
After setting my Nikon D7000 to accept the non-cpu lens at f2.8 I set my camera on aperture priority and I was ready to go. I chose a 5.6 setting and started taking close ups of items I was intending to sell on ebay. The smooth action on the focusing ring was incredible. And it stayed in the position that you set it. Taking the photos consisted of anchoring the camera and regulating breathing. The results were excellent. Vibrant colors, razor sharp detail. I'm sure all of the 55 mm lens of this era aren't in as good as shape as this one is. But if you can find a good one, you won't be disappointed. I also sourced a PK-13 extension ring. It is made for this lens and allows you to get closer still to the subject and is good for taking photos of very small objects.
