Last of the Breed by Louis L'Amour (1986, Hardcover)

    A Siberian Adventure
A great adventure story, one of the few he wrote not of the western genre. It ends abruptly and I think he had more planned but he died. I believe it was published posthumously. A story of survival in the Siberian winter while being pursued by the Soviets. And at the end, a little bonus. The protagonist is talking to an old man on the Bering shore and Olaf Swenson is mentioned. If you look up Olaf, he wrote a book about trading in Siberia "Northwest of the World". It is also well worth reading.

    A Common Life
I have read several of the Mitford novels and am pleased by the series. These are all good reads with no violent or obscene content and the stories are interesting. Anna

    Leon Hale
Leon Hale is just as readable as he was 50 or 60 years ago. If you liked him in the Post or subsequently in the Chronicle, you'll like him in this, his last book.
