This movie has a reputation for being a terrible adaptation of it's source material and in some ways it is. If you are a die hard fan of the comics, you won't like this. I've read a few of the 2000 AD comics and from those few I knew that the movie took some liberties.
But I'm not a big fan of the comics or the character, really, so I was able to enjoy 'Judge Dredd' for what it is, a good action movie with a decent story that has a message. It also looks and sounds amazing.
The film, I think, is comparable to Demolition Man, which came out around the same time. Stallone plays pretty much the same type of character, the story is similar as is the humour.
If you're a big fan of the comics and the character, you won't like this, but if you aren't very familiar with the character you'll find a good movie that'll keep you entertained and make you think.

A decent soundtrack
I bought this sound track as I really like the Judge Dredd movie. I am a little dissapointed with the album as there are only a few good songs on it, although it depends on what you like.
My favourite track is definately 'Dredd Song' by The Cure. While it's good to have a great, powerful song to start the album, the rest of the songs are weaker in comparison. Really, only Alan Silvestri's stands up to it and his score, made up of seven songs is a great way to close the album.
The other tracks, I just haven't been able to get in to yet but I'm hoping they will grow on me the more I listen. If you like Judge Dredd, it's worth a purchase, but there are much better soundtracks around.
