Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons
6 of 6 found this helpful I am a teacher who has been using this method to teach preschoolers, kindergartners, and first graders to read. There is no better or faster way to teach reading. In the largest educational experiment ever undertaken by the U.S. Dept. of Education, this method was conclusively proven to be the best method for teaching reading. It was entitled the Direct Instruction model in Project Follow Through--a 10-year, billion-dollar project.
I used this method to teach my 30-year old son (who is now a high school English teacher) to read. He learned to read when he was 2 years old. My now 4-year-old granddaughter is reading close to a 4th-grade level---having been taught with this method. I have used this method to teach English-language-learners to both speak and read English as well as teach their own children to read English. One Vietnamese woman whom I was teaching to speak English taught her 3-year-old son to read fluently. Another Hispanic English-language-learning mom in my class taught her pre-schooler using this method. I then taught his kindergarten teacher how to use this method. By the end of that student's kindergarten year, he was reading at about a 4th-grade level.
For the past 6 years, I have been teaching a class of moms with their beginning readers. This, of course, is my textbook. Each mom works one-on-one with her own child. The kids make amazing progress! I have also taught English-second-language adults to use this method with their children. It has been similarly successful for them. It is not difficult to use.

Got to be good!
I have a friend who works in a very special probiotics firm. It's a firm that actually does individualized tests on subjects, and for a few hundred dollars, customizes a probiotic that matches the stomach enzymes of the individual. He originally turned his nose up at store-bought probiotics. However, when he realized the strain utilized in Florastor, he agreed that it was "a good one."
I'm pretty oblivious to my body. I can rarely notice any difference with the many, MANY different products I take. (I'm REALLY into food supplements!) However, I do have confidence in this product simply because I have great confidence in the source that (albeit reluctantly) admitted that it IS a good product. (I don't have the hundreds of dollars to put out to design a customized probiotic. So, I feel I'm doing the next best thing.)

Incredible product! Educational but fun!
I use this book in both my kindergarten class and with my very precocious 4-year-old grandsons (both of whom read fluently). T never liked the silly "Cat in the Hat" books. However, the "Cat in the Hat Learning Library" is a different cup of tea. These books---to a one---are INCREDIBLE!!! They teach almost exhaustively about whatever topic they address. Yet they present it in rhyme and simply, so little children are both interested and able to understand. I eventually bought/read the entire "Cat and the Hat Learning Library"!
And, among all the wonderful books in the "Cat and the Hat Learning Library, this is one of the best and most educational. I took a globe and explored it with the students as I went through the book. I also use the time to discuss all the rich vocabulary words that are introduced in the book.
