Decent deterrent, nice and loud, convenient to use
3 of 4 found this helpful Having had a number of people try to steal my bike right off my driveway and reports of more activity in the area I wanted to step things up a bit security-wise and add to the two ground anchors and chains.
I was looking for an alarm solution which would be self-contained and doesn't rely on the bike's battery, since sometimes if I don't go out for a couple of weeks the battery can go flat. The bike is getting an alarm too but I wanted something completely independent of the bike's electrical system as a back-up. This disc-lock does that and fits in my jacket pocket if I want to take it along.
It runs off a pack of 6 hearing-aid batteries and comes with a spare set, I've yet to see how long they last but may see if i can add to or edit this once I know. It's been a couple of weeks and so far so good.
The disklock works fine on my bike (YZF-R125) - the bit which clips thru the disk holes fits no problem and the alarm is plenty loud enough and sensitive enough, but so far hasn't gone off by accident (e.g. from wind, cats etc)...so it seems like they got that bit right.
If you give the bike a knock it gives several loud warning pips, and if there's continued movement the alarm goes off properly.
Whilst the lock looks pretty beefy, I would imagine a solid whack with a hammer and you'd have the lid off but you're also into potentially damaging the bike at that point - I see this more of a deterrent than ultimate protection but what it does, it seems to do pretty well. I'm happy with this purchase.
*I have no idea what the yellow coily cable thing is in aid of and the instructions were pretty "minimal" so none the wiser there.

Nice solid bit of kit
I've actually just fitted these to my custom scooter today and am very pleased with how they look. They're nice and bright too. Just FYI even though the listing says "material: plastic" the casings are actually metal, I guess they mean the lenses are plastic.
