Vintage tube for a digital analog converter
2 of 2 found this helpful I recently replaced my old, failed drawer CD player with a top loading Rega Planet that I purchased on eBay. I complimented it with a California Audio Labs Sigma DAC. They sounded fantastic. After reading some reviews, I replaced the brand new Russian tube in the DAC with a vintage Telefunken tube. Love the results. Wide sound, deeper, richer bass, with no compromise elsewhere. Warm, very analog sound. I wasn't done. I finished with a Monarchy digital interface processor that I run in front of the DAC. This acts as a "word clock", anti-jitter corrector. The sound is even better. The best news is that I purchased all of these items on eBay for a very reasonable investment, considering the quality of the equipment. They simply don't make tubes that sound like some of these vintage tubes anymore, or DAC's for that matter. DA.
