The real deal.
2 of 2 found this helpful I have been playing guitar for almost 29 years, 20+ of them at the professional level. I have owned many fuzzes over the years. Even though Jimi Hendrix was my initial inspiration to take up the guitar, and even though I had learned about Roger Mayer sometime toward the end of the 90's -- I still never thought to check out a Roger Mayer fuzz. Boy, was that ever a mistake. All this time, the fuzz I had wanted all along eluded me. The Axis Fuzz is the sound that has been in my head all this time. I could kick myself for not going this route sooner. Most notably outstanding about this thing is that you can set it to full-bore fuzz, leave it on for the whole song, and just control everything from the volume knob on your guitar. Just fantastic. Turned up all the way for solos, it makes the amp sound like it's going to explode in the most wonderful way. There are a few drawbacks, though. The size is not pedalboard-friendly. It only runs on 9v batteries, too. It isn't horrible with a wah, but it's not great, either. It gets overloaded by the wah or buy higer output humbuckers. Definitely seems to prefer single coils. That said, I'm going to try a ScreaminFX Clarionix buffer between the wah and the Axis. I think this will fix it. And it will be worth it because I have never played a fuzz that I felt so connected to. I absolutely love it. Totally worth the few hassles.
