Unique and highly informative
Unique in its description of conditions from the firer's point of view. Very illustrative photos of reconstructed period soldiers and particularly their weapons.

Fine collection of hard to find period military prints
A fine publication, in terms of paper quality and printing, it furthermore offers to interested buyers a unique collection of period military prints, accompanied by valuable information. For the period concerned, there is little quality visual material such as the Ackermann prints depicting uniforms of the British and Indian Armies between 1840-1860.

A fine and comprehensive quide.
The most comprehensive textbook about the military horse all around. I liked the extensive information that now tends to de forgotten, concerning the means for the proper care of the animals, their harness, service etc. I found it immensely useful for the understanding of the mounted service, its limitations and the reason why horses were gradually replaced by mechanised units. Also one relives a romantic age in which many times men had to rely on their mounts for their survival.
