New Original HP 39gII 39GII scientific CIENTIFICA Graphing Calculator

A half-finished product, no longer supported by HP
I own the HP39GS, a predecessor. Quite good, but a tad slow at times, but nicely designed. I wanted higher resolution graphics, and maybe a bit faster. The GII promised a lot, but then failed. It crashes regularly and predictably. Give it some legitimate calculations, and it will lockup every time I run the same calculation. By 'lockup' I mean stuck and unresponsive to any button. The only way out is to take all 4 batteries out - leave just 1 in and the machine keeps going. If it weren't for this lock-up issue, I would persist with it for faster performance. But I can't have this unreliability. The firmware hasn't been updated since 2013, and I have the latest version. It seems that HP started to design this for the Chinese market, but shortly after they started, the CPU went obsolete, and then HP decided not to support it any more. I assume that all the bugs and lock-ups can be solved with a firmware fix, but HP are uninterested in supporting it and are not issuing any new firmware support. I think that this is a real shame from what I consider to be one of the best engineering organisations, that one of their products can be left as an unacceptably unreliable state like this. I do not recommend this calculator to anyone doing moderate or higher calculator work.

Not Belkin Quality
I bought this, thinking that it was a premium, long lasting pair of chargers. I have previously bought some Belkin gear, and considered them to be solid, reasonable quality devices. I was very disappointed in particular with the mains charger. I couldn't plug the USB connector in because it the actual internal connector was not lined up appropriately with the hole in the external case. By the time I noticed this, I had scrapped the packaging. if this is a pirate copy, trading on Belkin's good name then Belkin ought to be concerned. If this is a genuine Belkin product, then they might have a Quality Control Issue. Either way, I'm very disappointed.
