Punches well above its weight
Must admit I bought this on a whim. I'd just bought a Focusrite audio interface and Rode M3 mic to partner it. Looking at some reviews on the Focusrite interface I noticed this CM25 being bundled into kits. It looks like a much cheaper Neewer mic but some of the online recordings clearly indicated much better audio. So for £50 I picked one up.
First impression, while it looks superficially like a cheaper Neewer NW700 and likely some parts come from the same Chinese supplier, this is way better built and specified. Heavier body, better grille, entirely different internal buffer circuit and importantly, much better mic capsule.
The sound is excellent and very close to the Rode which costs twice the price. The Rode is a tad quieter for background noise but noise from the CM25 is also low and shouldn't intrude in normal use.
A great cost effective choice if you want great sound but can't stretch to something like a Rode NT1.

Great sound and value
0 of 1 found this helpful 30+ years an audiofile, but these days I'm more inclined to pro gear so this was my first try of a closed back 'monitor' headphone. Previously I've used some expensive and highly regarded open designs intended for hi-fi use but took a punt on the M40x as general opinion seems to rate them.
Well, me too!
They are surprisingly even toned with just a hint of mid-bass lift/warmth and top end lift in the 'air' region - but it's slight. For a closed design they sound quite open and lack the colouration often found in closed back designs. None of that hollow 'drainpipe' effect in the mids. Response is extended and you wouldn't want more top end extension IME. Lows are punchy and roll away evenly below 40-50Hz.
They work great driven by my Focusrite interface but also have plenty of level when connected to my Sony phone.
The two supplied cables are of good quality and the option of a coiled cable is nice.
I've been running mine for only a day so too early for a comfort rating but they certainly aren't uncomfortable and sit very securely.
Overall very impressed. Don't splash out on gimmicky high end audiophile headphones because these do a great all-round job and are a bargain for the money. Grab a pair before Audio Technica change them!

Great marriage of sound, build and looks
Closed back headphones often have sound quality issues when compared to open back designs. The MRS7 is an exception, sounding clean, open and relatively flat with just a little extra top end sparkle.
Great build quality and very tasteful aesthetics.
Clamp pressure is a little high but the headband responds well to a little stretching.
The stock foam pads are also excellent.
These are sensitive and low impedance so work well even on low power portable players and phones.
