Fabulous Sprout's Best Of!

I only knew a couple of the Prefab's songs (the wonderfully poppy The King Of Rock 'n' Roll and Cars & Girls). This best of demonstrates their huge range and was a delightful surprise. Intelligent, witty, thought provoking pop/rock, and boy, can this guy write! Fabulous lyrics and great melodies. Fabulous!

Stunning restoration of a Classic (Aus Imprint bluray edition)

I'd been holding out in the hope that Criterion might release their print of The War of the Worlds on bluray in the UK. It had been released in the US some time ago and I'd heard great things. But, as usual, the great con that is region coding left us UK collectors without this title. Fear not! This Australian edition is virtually the same print and I'm happy to report it only plays perfectly on UK players but it looks and sounds utterly stunning. I believe the only minor difference is that this print doesn't include Criterion's colour correction on thd opening shots of Mars (I haven't seen the Criterion release but I understand the sfx shot representing Mars has been re-graded to make it appear much redder than here). But, frankly, so what? This release from Imprint features the same incredible 4k scan (struck from the original negative) and a gorgeous 5.1 DTS soundtrack. Really, whether you love this film or are just into your classic cinema, you'll not be disappointed. Snap it up now!
