Good for learning CUDA programming, simple to install, cheap and generally silent
I'm using this for CUDA programming, not gaming, but I am delighted with this card.
GTX 1050 has compute capability of 6.1 which means that it supports everything except it doesn't have Tensor cores (which I don't need).
It's completely silent when idle as the fan doesn't spin.
Simple to install because it doesn't need a 6-pin or 8-pin PCIe power lead so slots straight into my old Dell Optiplex 7010 just fine

It works great as a graphics adaptor for office applications (complete overkill in fact).
It has 640 CUDA cores which is ample for my needs and will give a good representation of what can be achieved
