One of our favorite movies is THE BIG YEAR--about birdwatching
I got another copy of THE BIG YEAR for a friend in our orchid society. Most people have never heard of this movie. It was lightly promoted when it was new. With Jack Black, Steve Martin and Owen Wilson in it, not to mention some other big stars, it is definitely worth watching--especially if you enjoy bird watching in your yard or when on vacation to another part of the world. My friend has company coming this Summer and they also enjoy bird watching and feeding the wild birds so they are watching it together when they visit in a few weeks--my friend had never seen it either. At the end, with the credits, bird pictures and names are listed from A-Z so you try to see as many as you can as they go by--there is also a good lesson learned in this film--you will learn what it is when you watch it. Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory) has a cameo role, too. A Big Year is how many birds a birder can see in a year--on the honor system--and top birders vie for the award of seeing the most in the previous year. The race is on all over the place! We've watched it several times--good scenery and all kinds of interesting twists and turns. A movie we can always watch and still enjoy.

Corny Humor
Having watched many of the 3rd Rock from the Sun TV episodes when they originally aired, I got to thinking I had missed a lot of them and kind of wondered how they ended the show since I didn't remember watching that ending episode.
I purchased Season 1 at a local store. I didn't have time to watch it for a few years. So, after I watched it, I decided to check Ebay for the rest of the episodes. I purchased Season 2 and just finished watching it. There is a great Extras feature that is very long--which I really enjoyed--great interview with John Lithgow and also bloopers--and not made-up bloopers like you often see on some of today's DVD's that kind of look fakey. They also have a 3-D episode, which is of the aliens' first having dreams in their human bodies. This set comes with a pair of 3-D glasses, too, which was a big different. Looking forward to purchasing ALL the six seasons now.
Also enjoyed learning a lot more about how talented and how much experience all of these actors and actresses had before starting work on 3rd Rock from the Sun--I was amazed they had so much talent! French Stewart is a superb Laurel & Hardy type physical actor and he had a dance routine and sang--now, of course, can't seem to get that tune out of my head! The entire cast loved to come to work with their co-workers and it was great to see that they all got along so well together.

Terro Flea Refills Catch Fleas & Other Bugs Fast
Can't say a flea trap refill is compelling but with 5 indoor sibling cats, it is very needed. Used the Victor Flea Traps until the company quit making them and Costco quit selling both the traps and the refills. I'm guessing Terro bought them out and now are the source for either the same product--different name--or else comparable product. Our feral feline siblings were born in 2009 out in our back unused greenhouse--they joined our family--feral mother, too, but she passed from kidney disease several years ago and what a sweetie--her 5 kittens have been house cats for many years now and sleep with us, too, and we got no flea bites once we used the flea traps--the little lights also make good night lights, off to the one side near our living room. Our cats are very sweet and love each other and groom each other, too. Love us very much, also! During our Arctic Blast ice storm without power for two weeks, sleeping with our cats, the house only 45 degrees, you could say we had two weeks of 5-Cat nights (like 3-Dog nights in that song!)
A friend of ours told us about the traps and we do not use any flea collars or other on-the-back-of-the-neck liquid pesticides due to their toxic ingredients. So glad these flea traps did not disappear from the market--I don't think many people know about them but we will continue to buy the refills since even our one cat, Jethro, likes to lay on the carpet right next to the flea trap so am sure he knows how to get rid of fleas!
