Essential reading for both Londoners and visitors
For anyone with even a faint interest in London this is a must. I have always believed that no-one can truly know London because of its size; each of us knows only "our" London. Ackroyd, however, is the exception. The information in this book is amazing for it's depth and scope. It is conveyed in an easy manner so that the book is, to use a cliche, a real page turner. It is such an enjoyable read.

An intriguing political drama.
a compelling political drama. I know nothing about Danish politics and watching this they seem very complicated. I'm not sure I understand them any better but the machinations of the various parties made for exciting viewing. Well acted, well directed, well shot.

a must have for the serious collector, a must read for the casual reader.
from the early days of gay lib literature when so many people were exploring ideas of homosexuality in both fiction and non-fiction. I briefly knew the author and so was more than keen to get this book. One of those books that should be read to understand how we got to where we are today.
