The FT-450D is a no nonsense rig with all the features you will need.
3 of 3 found this helpful The Yaesu FT-450D is a unique jewel among HF/50 Xcvrs. It has been used by DXpeditions around the world with great success because it provides all the required features in a compact, light weight package. It features all the selectivity options you will need for CW, RTTY, data, and SSB with nothing to buy or add on.
Prior to finding the FT-450D I was disappointed that all the rigs that had all the desirable operating functions include a lot of unnecessary junk (in my opinion). Most modern rigs use a colorful touch screen LCD display with waterfall, etc. These displays look pretty but add little in functionality. And you have to stare into a lot of light just like using a computer. In contrast the FT-450D uses a negative image screen with simple graphics to identify all functions. This dark screen with only the graphics lit up is very easy on the eyes for long periods of operation.
In summary the FT-450D is a no nonsense rig with all the features you will need.

Flexible, protrammable
This receiver is fully programmable with a Spektrum supplied app. A simple transmitter can control almost any medel.
