Cool fish
2 of 2 found this helpful I purchased this pygmy puffer as an alternative to a Betta. What a great choice I have made. Clever, inquisitive and very friendly. The one thing I would say is that they are very small fish. The 45l that he is in looks empty and I think 3 would have been a better choice. When he was first placed in his new tank it had 1-2 mm gravel after a day I changed it for sand as the little snails he likes to eat were hard to get to. He really appreciated the addition of some plants for hunting and entertainment and a couple of cattapa leaves as cover. If you look for long enough the little guy comes bobbling to you with its independent eye movement scanning like he recognises me. I have managed to tempt with live food and the snail colonies are a must even bigger snails get nipped for a meal. I have also took the culls from my rcs tank the adults don't get bothered but I can see the babies getting munched. These fish will not eat flake! Overall a great buy and I highly recommend to anyone with a little aquarist knowledge due to the need for slight aquascapping and snail feeding.😎😎😎😎
