Being born in London in 1943, Gillian Tindall's books have given me more detailed history than I ever learned while I grew up there. Fascinating reading. Have recommended to several friends. Actually walked past No.49 Bankside on a recent visit, which was an added bonus.

Panasonic SD-255 Bread Machine
I've been using a bread maker for many years now, because shop bread upsets my stomach. My first machine was a Team breadmaker bought over the Internet seven or eight years ago and it was still going strong, but starting to rust on the inside. So, I bought another second-hand Team that claimed to make bread in an hour, but the quality was very dissapointing on all programs and you had to use Vitamin C tablets to get it to rise successfully. The old one was far superior.
Having looked at the Panasonic in shops selling for upwards of £100, I thought it was far to much to pay. However, I managed to get one on Ebay for £67 and I have to say that it is superb. Even the slight failure I had today, by using the wrong program for the type of flour, is far better quality than that produced by both my old machines. The bread is very moist and tasty - in fact you could say it is the difference between cooking on an Aga and an ordinary stove (I did own an Aga in a former life).
You get what you pay for in this case, and if I ever have to buy another machine, Panasonic would be the one for me, despite the high price! I can't wait to try all the different bread styles, italian, french, rye, etc., and the cake recipes. It even has a 10 minute memory in case you switch it off accidentally. I would recommend this machine to anybody.

Great product
Lovely easy to use iron. Only criticism is the lead is a bit shorter than my previous one.
