The Ethnography of Garumna and Lettermullen in the Coun - Paperback / softback N

A Very Informative Book.

As I am interested in this region of Ireland I was made aware of this title so purchased it. The book itself appears to be made of photocopied pages of the part of a report concerning Gorumna and Lettermullen. The detail is amazing considering it dates from 1898 Showing not only the heights of the men but also facial features, build etc., the names of the males in the villages and provides great detail of the people living in the Gorumna and Lettermullen areas, it was a harsh place to live with poor land and little money but, they were a community in the true sense of the word. This book also details the different styles of homes from the one room thatched cottage shared by family and animals to the more affluent familes with three rooms, 1 for the parents, 1 as the general living space and 1 as the bedroom for the children. Those families kept their animals in a lean to or barn. The families were self sufficient and the hardship of their lifestyles is there for the reader to see. Every aspect of their lives was done manually. No gas, running water, sewage carried out in a pot or bucket, no electricity, cooking and heating using open fires made by burning turf for which they had to cut and carry from the bog to their homes in a cart or on a donkey. Vegetables straight from the ground, if they didn't plant successfully they would have no crops, fish straight from the sea or smoked for future use, meat from the animals owned and slaughtered by the villagers. I've yet to go through the whole book fully but was fascinated by the folk lore section. I would love to have the previous pages of this report.

Beautiful perfume.

I absolutely love this perfume, it is just the right strength and even if I am heavy handed it is not overpowering. Beautiful and fresh smelling, long lasting, love it. When travelling I spray a little into my case so it smells lovely when I unpack.
