Makes a really nice noise in the right guitar
Lace pickups are very light because of their unique design. The sound is often described as too hifi but I would say they don't colour the sound much so you have more for your eq to play with. I use Deathbuckers in a Steinberger headless guitar and a Steinberger headless bass. They sound great. So much so that all my basses will get Lace pickups sometime soon.

It needs a picture of the underside
I bought 5 of these to convert a tired old Precision copy to 5 string so we already know I am up for mayhem with power tools! What I hadn't realised from the description is that there is a chunk of metal sitting downwards that I will have to cut a slot for. Never mind, a bit more work then...
The 15.5mm width of the individual bridges means that I _might_ get away without having to narrow the housings a little bit to make the 5 strings fit on the neck properly. The 5 strings are only 1mm or so wider than the 4 strings on there now. I'll probably thin them down a bit, it won't need much metal removing from each one.
Would I have bought them if I had seen that big lump of metal? They are so cheap compared to the ones that sit flat (Babicz anyone) that yes, after realising I had a choice between more work or paying more money I would still have chosen these.
Yes I have fitted a Babicz bridge to one of my basses, and yes it is utterly wonderful, and yes, it was expensive!
