Good Smooth Pedals
1 of 1 found this helpful Yes they’re made of plastic but this seems to be good quality regardless and strong too! The rails that they slide on are great and the action, really smooth. My only slight criticism is that the pedals are not as wide as they could (should) be so if using with a stick between your legs there will be a level of restriction. I am planning on using for mainly helicopters so time will tell! First impressions are good though. Recommended.

The Hero 3 Black Edition is beautiful but it is not fit for purpose yet!!!

I saved for a while to get this after having used my friend's HD Hero camera and seeing footage from Hero 2 cameras. I was very excited when the package arrived and was anticipating many carefree days out in the woods followed by evenings of simple editing...
My camera needed an update straight out of the box. This was no big deal and after a very simple process to do this I familiarised myself with the functions of the camera again easy to set up the functions and even easier with the iPhone app through wireless. The remote is also simple to use.
Packaging is good but I was disapointed to not have even a head strap in the box but I suppose once a company makes a name for itself they don't need to include so many accessories! I was already aware that battery life on these can be short so I had pre-purchased extra batteries and a wall charger.
Next day I went out on a ride and quite frankly I was so disapointed that by the time I had been out for an hour and a half I chucked the gopro into my backpack in absolute disgust! The camera routinely froze just after it had been started; this meant stopping in the rain to open the case, remove the battery cover, take the battery out, put the battery in again, and then remount the camera again... not easy in the cold and rain on a bike track in Scotland! By the tenth time (Literally!) I had had enough. When the camera was not freezing it would often just decide to stop filming of its own accord so there was simply no reliability of use and these issues render the camera completely useless in the water environment.
I had tried the camera on many different settings and all appeared to be affected by the freezing.
The footage I did get home with was great quality but absolutely not worth having ruined my ride for. Some of the freezes resulted in error files and not footage so most of the cool bits of video were absent from my card.
I have emailed gopro support and was sent a generic reply asking me to update the firmware and then asking me for details I had already given in my original email.
I believe all the problems to be firmware related at this time but have been ignored by gopro when I asked if there was one coming out any time soon.
I have taken the camera out several times since and it still refuses to work properly despite manually updating firmware several times and reformatting memory cards time and time again.
In summary: I have spent a lot of money on something that was going to get a lot of use but at this time it is unuseable. I no longer take the camera out with me because I like to enjoy my bike rides. The GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition is a beautifully engineered and manufactured piece of electronic equipment that will (until an update is released) make any discerning sportsman an excellent paper weight and or ornament. If however you want a camera or video to record your efforts... This is definitely not fit for purpose at this time.
I read a lot of reviews before buying this and I really wish I had believed them and been £400 better off because of it!!!
