Worth watching sometimes very amusing
Old enough to remember when the series was on tv, at the time a despised tv programme, now sentiment has made this dvd into a curious look in to the different and increasingly foreign England of today.
Just as an observation this programme was popular in a lot of foreign countries and it is difficult to imagine the damage it did to the British reputation for being helpful and hard working.
It is strange that the main character Stan is shown as chasing the clippies (bus conductors) and he was in his fifties in reality. Sadly Reg Varney did overact a litle bit.
The best character in this sitcom is the miserable, sarcastic brother-in-law, Arthur and his dowdy wife Olive.
But all things said and done, it is not a bad comedy and actually mocks
the deplorable attitudes of the main characters who are good men but epitomise the 'Us and them' attitude of the English at that time, and for that matter today.

Excellent DVD but irritating in presentation.
2 of 2 found this helpful This is a not all the episodes put together it is really all the episodes one after another. I am sure it is not beyond the capability of the DVD creators to give the viewer the option of watching either a series of episodes or a complete continuous film.
The Gnomes are cleverly created but the concept of Gnomes is very puzzling; if Gnomes live ten times as fast as humans, a Gnomish night would be at least 70 hours long but the Gnomes live at human speeds when it suits them. Also if the Gnomes were such technological sophisticates why did they have a reserve crew on the star ship who could have rescued the gnome crew on Earth after the shuttle broke down Bit odd that when you think of it.
