Airvent 459318A Extractor Fan with Humidistat/Pullcord & Automatic Shutter 100mm

Functional, great value, but understand how humidistats, and this unit in particular works.

Hi This was to replace an Expelair humidistat unit that lated two years. The great thing about this model is that unlike many others, and none at this price point it has the 3 features of humidistst, timer and pullcord options. The only thing it does not do is come on and off with the light. The backdraft shutters are much more complex than the simple ones that work on air pressure alone, but have the advantage of being silent, and far easier to clean being at the front of the unit. Note that the pullcord will activate the unit when it is not running, but will not deactivate it the humidistat has switched it on. Neither will it turn the unit off if the timer has control. It will basically turn it on, and it will stay on until you pull the cord again. It will then run according to the timer and humidistat settings. The timer has a minimum of about a minute so that is the minimum it will stay on for even if you have pulled the cord to turn it off. If you pull the cord again and forget whether you have pulled the cord or not then you can find yourself not knowing what is causing the fan to run as there is no indicator to tell you if the cord, humidistat or indeed the timer is active. Once you have your humidity levels set optimally you are good to go! It's as well made as any of these things are, and great unit for the money.
