Close but not quite there yet

I bought one of these to replace a genuine PonTec as the motor burned out after many, many years service (was the motor as brushes were fine). This unit looks very similar to the PonTec but it's performance does not come close to the original and I find this "clone" so frustrating it will be going on Gumtree or sitting in my shed as its not worth the time! The suction is acceptable but the design cheaps out with a rising float to block the air intake and a timer that then cuts the motor off way too early (meaning that hardly any water is removed at each fill/empty cycle) to allow the system to recycle. The original units only trip the motor off when the water has actually risen to fill the container - and for a basis system works well. Do yourself a favor - buy a brand name you can trust and you will be rewarded by performance that eases the job - unlike this copy which is truly pitiful.

Great value, but you get what you pay for.

Spring was poorly formed and did not align well to the mounting posts - I guess ok for a non genuine part.
