Great value at any price you pay for this book - it's just so amazing !!!
This book will open your eyes to what girls and young women have done for this country and others during the war. From running schools to prison of war camps to secret messages it is just so amazing and having been a guide leader for 30 years I found it so very heart rending. Do read this - I will meet Janie Hampton at our County Review this November and hopefully she will sign my new hard back version of the book.

Tears, laughter and knowing more about Girlguiding than you ever did.
I bought this book because I had heard it was good and yes I found out things about Girlguiding that I never knew. How they were involved in the Kinder Transport, worked for the security services during the war when they gave the Boys Scouts the flick because they weren't good enough. I was moved to tears hearing what girls before I was born were doing and the help that they were giving people. A few months after I bought this book I met Janie Hampton and she signed my hardback copy of the book and explained why she had written the book and the inspiration and knowledge that she had that I knew nothing of having been a member of Girlguiding UK for nearly 30 years. Buy this book and experience the amazing knowledge and descriptions of fun and bravery that the Guides had and know that this continues today.

Gripping storyline
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this book because I read "The Butlin's Girls" first and this was by the same author. Gripping story of a Woolworths store during the 2nd world war - insight into staff lives, love and a country at war and it's affect on their home and work.
