About
I am a mechanical engineer by education, and after working at everything from Rockets to BioTech I am designing better shoes. I am a fan of good design, clever ideas, and mid century modern - with a hint of eco-savvy.

The perfect microwave pan
This is the microwave cookware of your dreams. I have no idea why Corning doesn't still make it, but, it's our go-to for waving chicken, pork, and fish. Fish? Atlantic farmed salmon comes out fantastically with this pan. Buy a center-cut fillet, to try and have the same thickness edge to edge, then cut that into serving size pieces and line them up with a little gap in the pan We can cook a pound at a time.
The trick is creeping up on done - set your Wave at 1/2 power and zap for 3:00. The edges should have changed to a lighter white, and the centers still pink and raw. Zap again same power level for 30 seconds until all of the pink and raw is gone. Done. Remember how long that took in total and next time zap for one minute less and then zap as needed.
I apply salt, pepper, and dill before zapping - my wife prefers nothing at all.
This is Excellent Fast Food!
