Top quality
Bought this for a specific job (the 10mm draw-bar drive on my R8 mill) but haven’t had chance to use it yet (waiting for the ratchet handle from another supplier!) but it is extremely well made and finished. I was so impressed with the quality of this first Laser brand item I have bought that it decided me to buy a Laser external deburrer I was dithering over. That is also of very good quality. I would buy Laser products again with confidence.

Tip Top Tapping to Die for...
When setting up the machining side of my workshop I bought 2 x Presto drill sets as the foundation of my accurate drilling tasks. I was impressed by the quality of those especially at the price point, and so when I was looking for a basic set of metric taps and dies to form the basis of my threading activities, the Presto brand ticked all the right boxes again.
The set comes in a very well made well finished fitted metal box, with starter, second & plug taps in each size. The taps & dies appear to be well made & properly hardened and are very sharp. So far I have used them mainly on brass, aluminium and cast iron without any problems or breakages, and have had excellent, clean results and I would be confident using them on steel as & when the need arises.
As might be expected, the included tap wrench is perhaps a little basic, as is the included die holder, but both are decently finished, perfectly functional and usable items, and in the context of a complete starter set, they are absolutely fine. There is even an included screwdriver (for the die holder) & a thread gauge to ensure the beginner has everything he/she needs to get started.
The tap wrench is perhaps a little small for the larger sizes of tap, but again, this is a basic starter set & if you are going to use it more than occasionally, you will be acquiring additional items (like different size tap wrenches) as you go.
I have taken the view that this set is my starting point & I am adding (pairs) of additional sizes/pitches of taps as I need them. There is room in the box for several additional taps if they are in individual small plastic boxes.
This is a great starter set. Decent quality, good value & highly recommended.

Well dressed & lookin’ sharp
This is a really well made and finished tool. Cutting larger diameters is easier than smaller ones and it takes a little practice to get the knack of using it, but it is definitely worth mastering. The cutting edges are very sharp & well supported and appear to be properly hardened. I expect this tool to be a lifetime feature in my workshop.
I was encouraged to buy this tool by the quality of a Laser brand 10mm square socket I purchased a week or so earlier. I would not hesitate to buy Laser tools in future.
