Top five underappreciated artists!
This was the first album for Edwin McCain and a harbinger of things to come. Good song writing, good playing. An all-around enjoyable listen. If you're going to start with Edwin McCain, might as well start at the beginning.

just say no to drugs...
I'm a huge fan of Nina. I own a ton of her stuff on CD. "Mercurial" is a word that has been used to describe her. In this DVD, she's either stoned, insane or a bit of both. She rants about nothing. The fans are good natured enough to put up with it. Had I been there, I'd have walked out. Track 6 - "African Mailman", where Nina does an African interpretive dance, sounds suspiciously like "Loverman" on Bennies. The clips from 1987 and 1990 (much later shows) which are "bonus" tracks are better than the 1976 show. If you can find the material from '87 and '90 on Youtube, don't waste your money on this one.

Old pros at work
First of all, anything with Garth Hudson and Sneaky Pete playing central roles, should be good. If there are more melodic players around, I'd like to hear them. Throw in Carlton Moody's sonorous baritone and steady play from Stick Davis and Rick Lonow and you've got a heck of a band. These guys don't come anywhere close to reinventing the wheel, but that's not what I was looking for, when I bought this disc. This is five pros at work, making very enjoyable, very listenable music. My favourite cuts (ie: made it onto my i-Pod) were the opening track, You Got Gold; track six, Zydeco Ball; track eleven, Baton Rouge and the last cut, Rex Bob Lowenstein, a hilarious tale of an old-school DJ, from the radio station W.A.N.T. I think that I'd listen to Rex Bob's show! Great Saturday afternoon sittin' on the porch music.
