Dudley 88 diaphragm replacement
1 of 1 found this helpful Fits a Dudley 88 turbo perfectly. I got well over ten years very heavy use from the original diaphragm. Even when it failed it disintegrated very gradually and the toilet still flushed (with difficulty) for over a year with half of it shredded.
Whether this replacement is of the same quality remains to be seen, they claim it's the Dudley brand. At least it is easy to replace, the 88 is the way to go if you are thinking long term. I have little faith that newer designes will have the kind of life this older stuff has;
Real progress is often an illusion/lie. Built in obsolescence and over complexity is the order of the modern day. Everywhere they invent costly unreliable rubbish when some designs from the 50 to the late 80s worked far far better.This happens with many aspects of the building trade, from artificial slates to thin inferior modern copper piping. Sealed units instead of rebuild-able, circuit boards in everything. One day we will turn our backs on their corporate 'progress'.

Blind spot mirror
Great product, ideal for motorway driving and busy inner city streets. You can see where standard mirrors will fail you. The only thing to learn is to get in the habit to look into it when you are checking the main mirror.

Fix it! Don't bin it!
This cheap little kit gives you the chance to save money fixing the siphon unit rather then replacing it. It also ensures you keep the right siphon unit for your toilet, As it has to be removed to be fixed just as it has to be removed to be replaced, you may as well fix the thing.
So save money and time by fixing the thing that is almost always to blame, the 'diaphragm', chances are that one of these in this kit will be the part you need.
It's a simple job with the help of youtube. Remember you will most probably need a 'doughnut' seal to bridge the connection between the cistern and the pan. They are cheap and generally come in 2 inch size.
It's sad to see a design that worked so reliably and so economically for decades being phased out in favor of the 'fluidmaster' type of flusher which appears to be impossible to service/ repair.
This is the story of the modern world, 'progress' is often an illusion created by corporate power. If you have an old toilet that uses a old fashioned siphon unit why not keep it working for a very very long time.
