Nokia 7.1 charging fixed!
Good value replacement part to give my Nokia 7.1 a new lease of life. After putting up with an intermittent charging connection for many months, decided to have a go at replacing this component. Quite fiddly, but with the help of a YouTube video, magnifying glass, tweezers, and the correct jewellers screwdrivers, it was actually easier than I expected. Chuffed to get faultless charging again.

Expensive, but good quality tape
Was a little reluctant to spend nearly 20 quid on rim tape, but given that the wheel manufacturer's tape had failed to seal properly, I wanted something of better quality.
Tape is not as flexible as I had hoped, so it's quite tricky to apply smoothly (helps if you do it in a warm room). There were a few air bubbles under the tape, but found a trick on YouTube of inflating a regular inner tube in the tyre overnight to smooth it out perfectly.
Rest of process worked like a dream (regular track pump was enough to get tyre bead on rim seating), and tyre is holding pressure perfectly with no seepage of sealant around valve or bead.
Where to do the overlap of tape was an interesting dilemma; wheel manufacturer said on the join opposite valve; Schwalbe say around the valve hole. I did one of each and no difference either way so far.
I went for 27mm wide tape for my 24mm internal width rims. The +3mm was spot on to get good coverage of the rim seating.
Shame that the roll of tape is only 10 metres long. 700C wheels with a reasonable overlap of tape use well over 2.5 metres, so you can only do 3 wheels at most. Another metre and you could do 4 wheels.
