Detecting bats
The bat detector was easy to build but you will need soldering skills. I haven’t been able to find any bats yet but testing using ultrasonics certainly works. It would be nice to have some indication of the frequency being detected (maybe a rough scale on the frequency adjustment) to get some idea of which breed is being detected
In summary, this detector represents good value for money but care should be taken to protect it as the housing is the cardboard box it cane in.

Fixing my office chair
The gas lift cylinder on my office chair failed. And rather than purchase a new chair I found the Hartley replacement cylinder a very economical and inexpensive way of ensuring the chair has a few more years left yet.
