Good damping qualities, just not exactly where you would want them.
The gas struts do not lift the door to its maximum open position, the door is held at just the right height to catch your head.
To push door to fully open position requires substantial effort to overcome the resistance of the gas struts.
Good feature is that the door is damped as it is lowered, preventing it from closing heavily.
