miniature sophistication
1 of 1 found this helpful This camera fits easily into a coat pocket, is light and yet is beautifully balanced to use. The opportunities for control of all the important functions to create your own photos are provided, but there is also the point and shoot facility - very accurate - for the holiday snapper. The f2 lens (in wide angle) makes shooting where flash is not allowed in museums and churches etc a very real possiblity, and in situations - eg through windows and mirrors - where flash causes glare. When the flash is needed it is controllable and remarkably powerfulfor such a small unit. Because it pops up when it is to be used it is unlikely to be used in error.
Control of one variable (eg exposure, white balance, ISO etc your choice) can be tranferred to a ring around the lens making it easy to change without going through menus. A great boon for speedy shot making. The 3 inch viewing screen is amazingly bright and visible from difficult angles.
The results from this camera are stunning: almost indistinguishable from my son's Nikon SLR. I have owned many cameras over the last 40 years including Olympus OM10, OM2, SIGMA SLR, Yashika SLR, and more recently Casio digital exlim700. The results from this little Canon are at least up to the quality obtained from the OM2, which filled a pretty large camera bag with all its extra lenses and accessories.
It comes with a wide angle zoom (the equivalent of 28mm) generally of greater value than the telephoto zoom other digital cameras have. The results are so good that sharp close-ups can be created in processing.
So are there any disadvantages? Just one. The little adjustment ring on the back of the camera can be altered by the clumsy fingered (ie myself) unintentionally when handling the camera. On my first photoshoot I inadvertantly changed the ILO to 1800 (only one step - push) from the auto it was set on so ruining several photos before I realised what I had done. A solution to this is to move the ILO control to the front ring. The other changes accidentally made are not going to be so devastating. No doubt as i get more used to handling the camera this will no longer be a problem. I have not done it since!
I managed to get this wonderful camera brand new and boxed with battery for £265 from ebay. A bargain.

kids love this book
My son enjoyed this book 35 years ago and I was pleased to be able to find this copy which was in good condition for my little grandson. Sadly the book is sometimes sold without the gingerbread man on the string. That destroys the point of the book which is that the man can be passed through holes in the pages from the oven where he was baked though different scens until he is eaten by a fox at the end. I am pleased to say thatthis copy was intact.
