Dell Latitude D620 notebook and docking station
2 of 2 found this helpful I was looking for a replacement for a pc that would take up less room, and be mobile. A laptop with a docking station was my solution.
As well as general office and internet use, I also wanted to watch DVDs and listen to music on it.
The D620 fits the bill perfectly. I had used a few Latitudes and Inspirons in the past and was always impressed with their usability.
I plug my usb peripherals and external speakers into the docking station, so that I only have to unhook the laptop from the dock....no messing about with plugging/unplugging everything. The audio/video specifications of the D620 don't look up to much, but it all depends on what you want to do. Yes..there is only a single speaker on the laptop (which sounds very good) but I have attached my speaker system to the dock, so no problem whatsoever. The screen is not considered top class...yet I find the quality of the images perfect. Reviews tend to over-analyse for the sake of it....you can usually do with far lower spec systems than is generally suggested.
The build quality is very good...it feels sturdy.
So far I am happy with everything the D620 and docking station is offering me.
I have no idea whether this machine plays modern computer games....and luckily I don't care! Why pay a lot more money for processing and video enhancement that you just don't need?

Better than expected!
I actually bought this to hold my boots together whilst gluing, and with this I can clamp the sole. It was more rugged than I thought, which was a bonus. I wouldn't necessarily use this on heavy-duty work, but it was perfect for my needs.

Not up to scratch
You don't see a lot of this type of thing in the shops and I realise that is because it is very difficult to make a successful mend. I tried these, being fastidious with the gluing etc. Each time they failed within a couple of outings. The problem is that shoes do not just go down vertically when you step, they also tend to slide along a bit. This means a covering like this gets dragged a little, many times over, and soon bits break off or the whole thing slides along the sole, or both. Therefore the reason it exists (anti-slip) is exactly why it fails...since it can not 'take' a lot of shoe lateral motions whilst in contact with the ground, without deteriorating.
