A warning to all the World's leadership!
Everyone should read this. This book underlines how a distanced government can fail to understand the real issues and totally upset a population. By not listening to the people and then reacting in authoritarian methods the United Kingdom succeeded in turning not only the Irish but all 'colonies' against their 'masters' and world opinion against Great Britain. This was the fundamental tragedy of the ill-discipline amongst a virtually mercenary force that wreaked havoc throughout a small country that just wanted to run their own affairs. The actions of the Black & Tans however did inspire many nations to rebirth. Sadly, the fundamental lessons still remain unlearned by current world powers that believe because of their 'size' are able to impose their own dogma, often with force,,upon minorities in whom they see having no role in their empires.
