Hornby R8244 Uncoupler Unit OO Gauge

Very disappointed as I can't get it to operate

After an hour messing around trying to assemble what should be a very simple device I can't get it to stay affixed to the track when using the lever And it derailed the pony truck of my Ivatt 2 so I have taken it out and will sell all four I purchased I cannot see that I have misinstalled it
