Simply Great Rachmaninoff by an Ensemble and Pianist led by Seiji Ozawa
When you combine Krystian Zimerman, Rachmaninoff, Ozawa and the Boston Symphony Orchestra performing Piano Concerto's 1 & 2, you get Greatness that i believe Rachmaninoff himself would praise. These Concertos and the performance by Ozawa and Zimerman are Outstanding. Bravo

Sorry to have to say this....."El Stinko"
I don't know what Nelson is smoking. But ever since appointed Conductor of The Boston Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra's sound as well as performances are troubling. This box set of some of my favorite Strauss works is Lackadaisical. Example...The Festival & Prelude For Organ & Orchestra on Disc 7 performed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra sounds like a long-drawn-out battle of musicians fighting to stay awake and in-line. Its Horrible. Karl Bohm's recording of this work with the Vienna Philharmonic for DGG is far superior and in my opinion The Best Version ever recorded. Listening to some of Nelson's renditions with the BSO is painful as well as troubling.
Again...its not the Boston Symphony Orchestra at fault...its "The Conductor" and his markings.
Very sad collection...not what i was expecting.
