Bikepacking Bag
1 of 1 found this helpful Bought this bag as it was a fraction of the cost of similar type bags, I chanced it accepting the quality would probably be lower. Took it to Spain for a 3 week tour and I was pleasantly surprised; Loads of room inside, I travel light so it was more than enough space for clothes trainers and food.
No tail swing, I did some long climbs out of the saddle but didn't feel too much swing out the back. I put a tight bungee cord around it, probably helped keeping it steady (also handy for storage outside the bag).
Waterproof, no issues, everything dry inside but didn't have any extreme weather. Still airtight on the roll top after a lot of use so must be watertight.
Clears the back tyre easily and holds up to the saddle really well with simple and quick straps. My mates had expensive specialized bags but took ages to put on and off and when full would rub against the tyre, so that's what i was most pleased about really.
Bad points, not much to say here. Examining the stitching around the straps it doesn't look the strongest so it probably won't take years of use and around the world tours but that's what I expected for a £35 bag. The material itself isn't super durable as i dropped my bike a couple of times and it got a bit scuffed but still watertight so no issues, loads of rough off road trials and crashes probably wont suit it.
All in all for the price you can't go wrong. If this breaks I'll probably still buy another one simply for the function, looks good on the bike, and does what its meant to very well. If you're doing big tours in the middle of nowhere you probably want something stronger. For the odd bikepacking adventure here and there its a good purchase, 5 stars.
(I later bought the lomo 3l handlebar bag, also works just as well)
