Great card but NOT for linux

I had an old laptop with an RT3290 card and it started having issues under Linux, and also under Windows 10. I replaced it, twice, same issues. Apparently it can be fixed by compiling the drivers yourself, but ugh, I still could not get it to work. So I googled and found an alternative card know to work under linux, installed that, and no problems, no software changes needed So this is a good card, good value. I would recommend it if you need to replace an existing RT3290 which you know to work with your software. But if you are looking to replace a wifi card with one that works without issues, especially under Linux, this is NOT the one you want.

Old but work great with linux

I had an old laptop with an RT3290 wifi card, and recent linux updates just do not like it, also problematic under Windows 10. I replaced it with a new one, twice, same issue. Ugh! So I googled wifi cards known to work without issue under linux and found this one, really cheap and old. So I installed it in the laptop, and it worked with Linux Mint 19 without having to do any software changes. So yes this is old, but the price is great and if you want a wifi card to works with linux without issues, I can confirm this one does that.
