It's a capable lens that can produce bright contrasty images.
First of all I want to make clear that my comments are only related the lens that I bought and not to be taken as a general opinion of this make of lens.
The Tokina AT-X PRO 280 F2.8 is a sturdy well built lens that sits nice on your camera if you have a sturdy well built camera ! I have a Nikon D300s so it was great for me and my review is based on using that camera. I found the build quality is excellent and in my opinion it just "looks" like a pro lens. The auto-focus is fast and quiet - maybe not as fast and quiet as the Nikon silent wave motors or the Sigma Hyper sonic motors but it's no slouch. The manual focus ring is big and smooth and works great. The most important aspect in my opinion has got to be what a lens can produce - I found that if you wanted really really sharp results from this lens you need to stop it down to F5.6- F8 - I know that is the case with a lot of lenses of this type but wide open I would only give it a 7-8/10 - Not great but not bad either. All in all great value for a contant F2.8 lens.

Great bang for buck !
I had a A580 which I loved but I had been after an A77 for a good while - Prices now are so low that it would be rude not to !
This is a solid no nonsense serious piece of kit - it's packed with features to numerous to list. It feels solid in hand but not too
heavy to carry all day. A superb electronic viewfinder to compliment the versatile bright 920k LCD which twists and turns every which way. You can shoot in 24,12 and 6mp modes and the video produced on the 77v is superb. I can't believe I was able to obtain a near mint camera of this calibre for £260 on Ebay with less than 6k shutter count.
It's a complete all rounder , great for sports , landscape and just about anything.
With stacks of Sony and Minolta lenses available it's a no brainer - one of the best aps-c cameras out there for the money !!
A wee bit soft wide open at F2.8 but F4 onwards it's very sharp. Build quality is excellent and the image stabilisation system works perfectly. A lot bigger and heavier than the non-VC version.
