Hints on how to use it
After failing to find a reasonably priced replacement hose for my aged Karcher I looked for some other method of repairing my split hose and found this remarkable device.
It took me a couple of attempts to get the parts connected without them 'blowing off' and I can pass on a couple of tips for others to help ease the way forward.
1. Your hose ends need to be cut flush, a cm or so back from any damaging cuts/holes - use a Stanley blade.
2. Each piece of fitting unscrews to reveal the 'fat' hexagonal part and a longer 'pointy' piece with a smaller hexagonal nut-type fastening. The 'fat end' of the fittings screws over your open hose on a LEFT-HAND thread - don't spend a frustrating 10 minutes wondering why the hose keeps popping apart like I did, screw it in properly ANTI-clockwise! Don't 'push' your hose as you screw the fat part on, let the threaded bit 'pull' the hose in else the inner and outer cores of your hose will separate.
3. Check that the inner 'black' core of your hose is screwed up flush with the inside of the fitting before proceeding. If it isn't then you haven't screwed it far enough onto the hose.
4. Insert the 'pointy' bit of the fitting to the 'fat end' (this time in the standard right-hand thread way) and turn by hand to 'catch' the thread - it takes some force.
5. Use a pair of spanners to continue tightening the pointy bit into the fat bit that's holding the hose - again this requires some strength but you MUST make it as tight as it can get. I didn't quite get the fittings to close up flush and I'm a BIG strong person but aim to do so even so!
6. Repeat for both ends of your hose and then fasten the two halves together at the threaded coupling. This is easily done using your fingers but, of course, nip it up tight with spanners.
7. STAND WELL BACK as you apply pressure to the fitting - if you got it wrong the hose WILL fly off and one coupling end (which is quite heavy) can fly around! If it stays together then apply a 'pulse' of trigger pressure a few times to ensure the fitting STAYS together (the pulsing can make the thing fly apart if you did it wrong).
8. Wrap the finished joint in self-amalgamating tape if you think dragging the hose may bring it into contact with your car etc.
The only 'down side' with this repair is the weight - it a fair 'lump' in your hose - but with the alternative being a replacement hose costing 5x as much (or, in my case being impossible to source) then it's a small price to pay.
Overall I was pleasantly surprised to discover that high pressure hoses could be repaired and that this pair of connectors were such good quality.
Highly recommended.

Great upgrade device and very cheap too.
Makes a 'useless' CD device into a valuable storage device. Put a 1Tb drive in mine!
