A Work of Moving Profundity
Richard Powers is a remarkable writer. I came to him via The Overstory and Bewilderment his earlier (I think) novels. It is a profound reflection on identity and human relationships.

A Stunningly Engaging Portrait of one of Rock's Most brilliant Songwriterrs
Peter Bognanovich is no slouch, the director of the Last Picture Show takes an in depth look at Petty and the Heartbreakers. Interviews, footage of concerts and delightful clips of Petty past and present make this one of the best rock documentaries you could wish for.

A Simple and Inexpensive Way to Enhance Your Singing Voice.
I can sing reasonably well, but I've always used effects boxes to enhance my voice just a tad. When the band I as fronting broke up after 25 years I decided that I would attempt to perform solo and the idea of an effects box that would create harmonies was too tempting not to give it a go. However, to sing harmonies using the TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2 demands very accurate intonation ie you have to sing in tune not just acceptably but perfectly as any small wobbles sound dreadful. However, I started playing about with it and found that used subtly it made my voice sound that more robust and tuneful. I had to sing in tune of course but providing that I kept the settings low I could make a very pleasing vocal sound. I still have two other TC Helicon vocal effects boxes and I will at some time link them all together and hear what I can hear but in the meantime I am very happy indeed to use the Harmony box 2 by itself. It's simple to use and works on batteries or a power source (which you buy separately for around a tenner.) I love it and would recommend it to anyone performing alone or with others. But it, play around with it, it's a treat!
