Inexpensive panel meter that is very suitable for hobby use
This appears to be an accurate panel volt meter. I bought it to modify and mount in a simulator dashboard, using Arduino PWM outputs to directly set the position of the needle. For this purpose it excels. It's very easy to take off the front and replace the meter's scale, or to reverse it for blank silver. It fits a 49mm circular panel hole, and comes with suitable fixings.
The meter has a resistance of only 5K Ohm, which will matter to people intending to use it to measure voltage. This means that its maximum current draw from my Arduino's PWM output was 1mA (at 100% duty cycle).
The needle has a fluorescent orange-red paint on it, and is highly visible under blue light.
