Excellent cast and composition, with classic early horror direction.
They got just about everything right in the classic 1954 sc-fi: THEM. For us, this film exemplifies story telling in black and white, at a pace, and with superb direction, that few directors could equal. And given that CGI did not exist, they did a pretty good job of the giant ant special effects artwork. It is doubtful they could make such a movie today. It's a bit like the first King Kong, it took years before Jack Black and Naomi Watts could best the original story, with several attempts in between, without CGI. Audiences today expect near perfection, as they should. Which is why the classics are classics, and will remain as stepping stones in the art of silver screen entertainment.

A great story about survival in the freezing Arctic wastes.
We were reviewing as many films about the Arctic and Antarctic, in connection with a story being developed by the Cleaner Ocean Foundation called Sectasaur. Being fans of Mads Mikkelsen, we could not wait to see what this fictional tale was about. We were pleasantly surprised by the desperate struggle of a crashed pilot to survive at the inhospitable North Pole. Mads, as usual gave a credible performance, to the point where you could almost believe the film was based on a true story.
