Some interesting songs.

I heard one of their songs on the radio - a background track - recently. I was curious to know what their music was like generally. I hadn't paid much attention to their music in the past. On first listening, I am not struck particularly, but perhaps a second hearing I shall change my mind? The track I heard previously, doesn't seem to be on the collection!

Great artwork based on the spaceships of the Dan Dare series

A nostalgic collection of pictures based on the old Eagle magazine's Dan Dare series. The Eagle was a boys' magazine produced during the 1950s and 60s. Excellent artwork of the fictional spaceships featured in the old stories of the publication. Ideal for Dan Dare enthusiasts of yesteryear or youngsters of today - it might enticed them away from their mobile phones for a while and appreciate the older format of story-telling!

Another good album from Dare!

I saw Dare in concert at Arlington Arts (in Newbury) no very long ago and instantly liked their style. I bought their new album shortly afterwards (Road to Eden) and thoroughly enjoyed listening to it and wondered why they weren't more popular. This earlier recording is also very good and Darren Wharton has written all the songs - as in the later albums. His accompanying musicians are different from the later album which probably lends the music a slightly 'lighter' rock style. Darren has a great singing voice and the songs seem very personal. If you enjoy a Celtic rock style, I would recommend this CD - and the later recordings.
