Sophomoric humor can be funny
For the most part, I am NOT a fan of sophomoric humor; the majority of it is crude, vulgar, immature, and pretty much offensive, which I guess are the qualities that many movie audiences look for, but I don't happen to be one of them. That being said, "Porky's" happens to contain all of those dubious qualities----but it's FUNNY! I had not seen this film in decades, and God only knows what prompted me to buy the DVD. I watched it last week, and I must confess that I ROARED with laughter, especially during the scene with "Lassie", and the scene in which the female gym coach was trying to convince the school principal that they needed to have a "line-up" of five boys' genitalia so she could identify the one that was "hanging out" in the girls' shower room! CLASSIC humor and hysterically funny (that second scene was filmed in ONE TAKE!)!!
