Useful device

Really good telephoto lens for the price
The lens was bought to work with a Canon 5D Mk 2. The initial project was the eclipse from Svarlbard plus any wild life that we happened to meet during our 10 days there and so far I'm pleased with the results I've been getting.
The lens worked really well at the low temperatures (-24C for just under 4 hours whilst shooting the eclipse, the weather was still so no windchill). In particular both manual and autofocussing were unaffected. That said I found, generally, that it was difficult to get 'pin-sharp' focus in any conitions but I am a novice and this could be simple incompetence.
The lens seems to be wellbalanced but it is heavy (not to be carried on the shoulder for any length of time) so it needs a good tripod and head unit. A well padded back-pack type camera bag helps. It produced some very good panoramas via photo-stitching sets of stills from panning glacier fronts and distant mountain ranges.
