FUJITSU STYLISTIC Q702, I5-3437U (1.9 GHZ), 4GB, 256GB SSD - Win 10 with Stylist
20 Dec, 2016
Fujitsu Q702
Although these computers are a few years old they have good specs. The i5 processor is quite quick. That, together with the 256 GB SSD, makes boot times acceptably short. The SSD is not partitioned (unlike an ultrabook I had), which gives you a lot more effective storage. The screen is OK, and the track pad and keyboard are fine. Really nice features for me are the USB3 port (as well as three USB2 ports) and an HDMI port. Also good is the SDXC port. To cap it off, the Q702 from KNN computers comes with Windows 10 Anniversary Upgrade. The combination of these features make the Q702 a good travel computer, onto which you can download your photos, weed out the duds, and quickly back them up onto an external USB3 storage device. After you get home you can show your photos on your TV via the HDMI port. My ultrabook (which dies just out of warranty) cost over $2,000 (new), about 10 times as much as the second hand Q702. Although the screen of the Q702 is not as good, in most other respects the Q702 is better. Some users may be interested in the capability of the Q702 to be separated into two parts, which the screen section able to be used as a (fairly heavy) tablet.
New Sandisk Extreme CZ80 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive 245MB/s

USB3 Computer Backup
Sandisk is the leading manufacturer of USB flash drives, and the Extreme series of USB3 devices are ranked as having the fastest performance. 128 GB is enough to backup your files while on the road, and a flash drive is much more compact and lighter than a portable hard drive. Size and weight are vital characteristics when on the road. I have used one for several overseas trips to backup photos and documents, and find the devices ideal. The only potential problem is that they are so small that they may easily be left behind when packing up ready to move on (that is what happened to me on my last trip). You need to exercise discipline.
NEW Logitech Webcam Black HD Pro USB C920 Web Cam
24 Mar, 2017
Logitech C920 Webcam/Mic
Windows 10 has a "Camera" utility that saw the c920 as soon as "Camera" was activated. The software from Logitech offers greater capability, and had to be downloaded from Logitech. The drivers appear to be written for W8, but work fine under W10. The video quality is really excellent compared with any of our notebook built-in webcams. The cam is able to take good still photos as well as record video clips, and can record video when motion is detected (home security, or just spying on your spouse?), and the stereo microphones produce good quality sound. Setting up Skype on our desktop computer was a snap, as Skype defaulted to using the c920. Have not yet tried using the c920 with one of our notebook computers, but may do so in order to Skype on TV via an HDMI connection between the notebook and the TV (not only providing a BIG picture, but also allowing our stereo hi-fi speakers to be used for even better sound).
