Great design
We're on a water meter, so when we had a problem with our pool and needed to refill it from our old redundant well this pump was a total success and saved us a fortune. We used it to lift water 5 metres and it did it with ease. It operated in water 8ft deep.
It has a simple impeller design with a mesh filter. I suspect it would be fine for dirty water.
