HP Pavilion HDX X18-1320EA Laptop PC
The decision to buy it was based on the success of a previous HP laptop purchased a year ago for my daughter. This one was for my wife. It was (supposedly) only four months old and advertised as running Windows Vista but when it arrived it held Windows 7 professional. When I asked the vendor for the documentation and restore CD, he had lost them. I had wanted to somehow save the operating system and reintroduce it as virtual guest. I was not able to do this owing to its size despite apparently successfully shrinking it with gparted. Instead I overwrote the complete drive with Ubuntu 10L10 and added Macbuntu 10:10 so that the machine looks and behaves like an Apple Mac. Everything except the finger tip reader works perfectly. My daughter who used Vista on her machine until a month ago told me the finger tip device never worked under Vista either. My wife is delirious about the 18 inch screen as it is four times the size of her Asus netbook. I too enjoy toying with it but it is heavy.

The bottom line is that my daughter is a happy bunny,
We're a family of avid readers. My wife has a kindle. when my daughter in Israel saw it, it was obvious that she would love one herself. I bought this one as a gift her. She was over the moon with it.
