This is one of those forgotten gems of the 8-bit era
This is one of the forgotten gems of the 8-bit era. While reminiscent of the light cycles game as seen in the original Tron movie, it is a unique game in itself. The basics are you try to box in sections of the screen, once you reach 75% you advance to the next level. To make this a challenge there's 2 fiery balls of death chasing you, plus more come the longer you wait... AND there's this vector-graphic thing chasing you! As a twisted bonus there is amusing 8-bit art displayed for scores above a certain amount. Lots of fun to play by yourself and it has a 2 player mode, you cant go wrong with this little jewel!

Gameboy Advance SP - Latest and greatest of the Gameboy series
The Nintendo Gameboy series has been around since the end of the 1980's; Its arguably one of the most revolutionizing families in gaming. Before the Gameboy stepped in there really was no such thing as portable gaming, and certainly nothing that could play multiple games as well! But to the point. The Gameboy Advance SP is one of the final systems to receive the Gameboy name (only the Gameboy micro came after it. The DS is NOT a gameboy even though it can play Gameboy Advance games) and in many ways its the best system in the line. Featuring a backlight (or frontlight), a folding screen-protecting design, full backwards compatibility, a by now massive game library, solid and simple design, and perhaps most importantly for us who played the original, it went back to the original button layout the original Advance so blatantly violated. There are some cons to this system however. If you have big hands you may not be comfortable playing on the SP. Because the screen is on a hinge it is possible to break the screen off the system. The buttons are not the rubber-dome type used traditionally in Gameboys, but rather 'clicky' type buttons (personally i prefer this but some dont). All that being said, the Gameboy Advance SP is in my opinion one of the best Gameboy's to play your favorite games on, weather they are games like the original Pokemon or new games such as Fire Emblem, if you want a Gameboy you need a SP.

Pokemon Leaf Green - a rare great remake
I was in middle school when the first Pokemon games hit the US and played them for years and years until i became 'to old' to admit it... but when i found out my girlfriend enjoyed them too i got her Fire Red and myself Leaf Green as something that we could play competitively and for fun, and im very happy to say they are excellent games. remakes of classic games tend to not work out to well; they generally do not live up to golden memories, or the developers try to add to much to them, or take to much out... but in the case or Fire Red and Leaf Green, Nintendo got it just right. anyone who played the originals will feel right at home (once you get used to COLOR and WIDESCREEN and RUNNING) and have a blast revisiting familiar places and hunting for old teams. Highly recommended to anyone from the true beginner to the old hand, a must have for anyone who's ever said the words 'gotta catch them all!'
